About the colony
Starting point
The first step in TNR is to establish a baseline. We Met with this client to gain insight to what their expectations are for the future of the colony. Once that is established we can begin to reach out to our community to meet the needs of the colony and the client.
This colony needs to be seen by a vet for basic veterinary care, initial vaccinations, and for spay/neutering. This is where we come in!
To be able to safely and humanely capture this colony we must gain the trust of the cats. It is not safe for the animal or humans to simply bait and catch right away. The cats will become very scared and distrustful toward humans and any future of finding a home or becoming socialized could be at risk.
We take our time. At the time of the first meeting we will coordinate with the homeowner to create a schedule that works for everyone. We will begin by feeding at certain times, this will teach the cats that when they see us coming, we bring good stuff and they like us for it.
As the colony becomes more trusting, we will begin to humanely capture when we know for sure we can provide the veterinarian care they need within a 24 hour period. After this, the cats will return to their original colony until other resources are available for rescue or fostering the cats.
Support from local communities
Everything we do would not be possible without your help. Every donation we receive goes to getting cats spay/neutered and a healthy start to the rest of their lives. Please consider donating to this colony so we can save the lives of these wonderful cats.
